If you want to beat your wife, or not let her vote, or tell her what to wear you have to be a muslim. If a secular humanist (and they almost certainly won’t) tried any of that, yhe dibble would fell their collars faster than Regan of the Sweeny….

Sorry I’M rubbish at typing today, too hot…

It’s quite an experience to be up close to denialism. Like, has to be felt rather than believed. Truth sometimes seems like another word for tribalism.

  4. M27Holts says:

When you make “Truth” subjective as is the modern fad…the ghastly “my truth” stance of todays womble worriers….then objective truth (i.e the earth is round or we definately were not created by some imaginary intelligence) is the first victim and you will never win an argument with a dyed-in-the-wool muslim maggot muncher…

As a regular here at the cock and bull I sometimes need, as an American, to interpret some of the colloquialisms presented by my distinguished colleagues. So, in regard to “If a secular humanist (and they almost certainly won’t) tried any of that, the dibble would fell their collars faster than Regan of the Sweeny…”, yields, by way of AI, “If a secular humanist—and they almost certainly wouldn’t—attempted anything of the sort, the police would have their collars felt quicker than Regan ever managed in The Sweeney.”
So now I understand the grabbing by the scruff of the neck (the kind of thing ICE does here in the USA), but the dibble still eludes me. I thought it could be beadle, but I am now just casting about in a penumbra of incomprehension due to the distance across the pond, but if dibble is what you meant then that is what I will assume it is. I’m sure that when you use a word it means just what you choose it to mean — neither more nor less. Has the unbearable heat passed? Or is a small agricultural implement for making holes in the ground what you intended? It’s not like scribbling on the wall of the loo. These comments live in perpetuity on the world wide web. To err is human. To really fuck up is divine. So, the beadle collars the humanist, or punches holes in his neck? If my knowledge of the Mancunian dialect is lacking, I will try harder to appreciate its eloquence, or vehement simplicity.

The use of the collar as a handy place to take hold of a fugitive has made “collar” a verb for authorities detaining someone. “Feeling a collar” likewise.

The Sweeney thing is from TV. Wikipedia:

The programme’s title derives from “Sweeney Todd,” the Cockney rhyming slang for “Flying Squad,” referring to the fictitious demon barber. Shortened to “The Sweeney,” the term was used by London’s criminal underworld in the mid-20th century to refer to the police.

Regan is a character in this “programme”, and the following popped up in a web search: “Regan and Carter were honest, though not averse to cutting corners if it meant feeling a collar.

Have you not watched the American Cartoon Boss (Top) cat…the policeman (NYPD?) Is Officer Dibble….thus Dibble = police ..

A lot of septic culture has been accrpted here in blighty. We now have Trick or Treat celebrated far more than the ritual burning of traitorous catholics and in 12 years I will probably have to stump up a few thousand quid for my granddaughter Mabel’s prom dress….hmmmmph

  9. M27Holts says:

I love colloquialisms me…hows about interpreting the following statement…As for my mate’s sex life I know for a fact that he’s a “low-light sprout merchant”….🤣

  10. postdoggerel says:

On my way back from going to church
    in my unending spiritual search
    I saw in the dark
    a bloke in the park
who sold low light sprout sex toy merch

  11. M27Holts says:

Haha….well postdog, the geezer in question likes to fettle his missus when he gets home from work at 17:00, thus his doris puts the sprouts on to cook at a low temperature so they don’t turn to mush whilst they are enjoying a bit of adult perogative, thus he’s a “low light sprout merchant”….
