  1. Sparky_shark says:

Would praying to the Lawd help make the US NOT vote in Donald Trump? Would you accept the lord into your life if it meant that that particular nutjob wasn’t the next Prez of the US? Purely rhetorical question of course – because reading this week’s strip I’m minded that Donnie might well be a Thetan / Moron / Bible-puncher on top of his many, many attributes.

And also feeling like a bit of nerd keeping “my fingers crossed” for the right outcome is paramount to paying a tithe / stupid-tax to try influence outcomes of events!!

  2. FreeFox says:

This morning I skimmed through my reddit headlines and thought the one about the ongoing revelations about Clinton’s corruption and the new FBI email investigation sounded promising… only to stumble into a discussion about how new evidence has surfaced that Trump inherited Tesla’s notebooks from his grandfather and that somehow he and Pence are time travellers…

I love living in the age of the internet. It just makes everything unpredictable. From the Arab Spring to US Presidential Elections or Brexit to… well… time travel?

    ^_^

  3. W. Corvi says:

If atheism is a religion, as sometimes claimed, then doesn’t IT deserve respect, too? I mean, as long as it is sincerely held, of course. Or the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

  4. Innocent Bystander says:

Can absence of religion be called a religion, the religion of no religion? I don’t think so. That would make everyone religious, whether one believed in the supernatural or not. So, to take up W. Corvi’s point, obviously IT (assumed to mean Information Technology) should be respected; otherwise I wouldn’t be able to type this and you wouldn’t be able to read it. I once read of a guy who shot his computer and this was clearly a disrespectful thing to do. Shame on him!

  5. Necessary Evil says:

There’s a group on Facebook called Evangelical Pastafarianism. It’s brilliant!

  6. What about the Church of Bacon?

That should keep them busy for a few minutes.

  7. Dee says:

Once again, there’s no “share” button, and I do so like sharing these strips.

  8. Michael says:

Ophelia Benson wrote: “What about the Church of Bacon?”

    Is that Roger or Francis?

  9. smee says:

What a choice those poor folks in the US have. Nurse Ratched or one of her former patients!

  10. Jim Loving says:

Good one author. This reminded me of the bit I originally heard on the radio from the comedian Emo Philips. Well, I actually found a video of his bit on youtube, performed in 1987. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDmeqSzvIFs

  11. J Ascher says:

@FreeFox: it would be more suspicious if Trump or Pence were a Doctor. It turns out that they’re just Tardies!

  12. There’s always somebody who doesn’t deserve respect. It’s just hard to draw the line.
    Good one again, Author.

  13. UncoBob says:

One strange thing to come out of the US elections is the role of the Mormons. The fundie god-botherers whose religion is derived straight from scriptures are in general quite happy to accept a self-confessed sex offender, multiple liar, cheat etc as a good man and worthy presidential candidate. On the other hand, the Mormons whose religion is a transparent con are far more likely to refuse to vote for the Republican. Can’t bring themselves to vote Democrat though. Funny thing, morality.

Anyone know what the Pastafarians are recommending?

  14. […] Theย new Jesus and Mo strip, called “dear”, came with this note in the email alert: […]

  15. Canneloni says:

Sorry, W. Corvi, but I can’t bring myself to believe that members of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster are really serious about it, rather than just taking the mick out of religion in general. So no respect for that religion, but loads of respect for the sense of humour.

Come to think of it, I sometimes think this about a number of other religions too…

  16. FreeFox says:

Hah! As a certified member of the Ninja-Pirate Assembly of God I laugh at your attempt to disparage our sacred tenets. If you only looked at the civil war between the noble Alfredo/Pastafarian Alliance (the APA) and the SPAMite infidels (aka members of the lying and cheating SPAM’a Linguinism cult, a subgroup of the infamous “Linguinists”), you can see how serious we take out faith.

I must say, your handle “Canneloni” makes you of course suspect to be nothing but a Moomist stooge and thus discredits anything you say!

  17. two cents' worth says:

FreeFox, I appreciate the links you provided. You and the Author have made me laugh, taking my mind off the @#$%$! presidential campaign in the USA. As the old ad used to say, “Thanks! I needed that!”

To paraphrase something I read in Miss Manners, one need not respect another’s beliefs, but it’s polite to treat them respectfully. Fortunately, we can gather here at the pub, where this rule of etiquette is explicitly waived ๐Ÿ™‚ .

  18. Jim Baerg says:

    Are the Linguinists cunning?

  19. two cents' worth says:

A cartoon on what might (or might not) happen when someone’s religion is not respected: http://www.gocomics.com/nonsequitur/2016/08/24

  20. Acolyte of Sagan says:

And there was I thinking that genuine respect can only be earned, not demanded. Having said that, to paraphrase Barmaid from a couple of years ago, I give all religions equal respect.

  21. dr John de Wipper says:

    AoS:
I give all religions equal respect.
wherein equal for me means: equal to what they give me
    (which ususally means “very little”.

  22. two cents' worth says:

FreeFox, before I read your post, I had not heard that Pastafarianism was subject to sectarian strife. I am sorry to hear about this sad state of affairs (though, from what I read of the Ninja-Pirate Assembly of God, you and the rest of His Assembly members are probably happy with this state of affairs). In any case, may you be touched by His Noodly Appendage! ๐Ÿ˜‰

To paraphrase Miss Manners, one need not respect others’ religious beliefs, but it is polite to treat them respectfully. Fortunately, this rule of etiquette does not apply here at the Cock & Bull ๐Ÿ™‚ .

  23. pink squirrel says:

Trump and Pence ARE Time travellers -its just they are going backward instead of forward

  24. Stumpy says:

Michael asked “Is that Roger or Francis?”

    Neither – Kevin.

  25. Deimos says:

So we’ve had brexit and we’re heading towards trumpaggedon, my only question is whether or not it’s going to be three of a kind or a four horsemen scenario ?
AND what vote based fun is coming next ? Godzilla winning strictly ? The BNP winning zac goldsmiths old parliamentary seat ? Vladimir Putin on I’m a celebrity ?

  26. plainsuch says:

Next? President Trump sends 2 aircraft carriers and 100,000 troops to support Scotland’s ‘application’ for US statehood.

  27. I have the U.S. election covered. B.C. Lotteries is taking bets on the result. I put ten bucks on Trump to win, at 4.5 to 1 odds. So if he loses, I’ll be delighted. If he wins, I’ll have enough money to buy enough scotch to dull the pain, fear and loathing for at least a day while I make plans for the expected invasion of Canada if we decline to give them our water.

  28. pink squirrel says:

50,000 troops in 1 aircraft carrier? – they must be as big as Trump’s mouth
Nor has the world had the misfortune of him winning as yet

  29. Deimos says:

Please see my post of several days ago, now Trumpaggedon is here …..

I am off to william hills to collect on my bet.

  30. Okay, winning enough money for a bottle of scotch is no consolation for a Trump win. My echo chamber just fell apart. My irony meter is toast. This fucking hurts.

  31. UncoBob says:

I signed on for my weekly fix of J&M, to find we’re still stuck at last week’s effort. We all need something to take our mind off the sad events of the last day or so. Hope the Author isn’t taking the Revenge of the Pussy Grabbers too hard. Still, the previous cartoon was a goodie, albeit in the ‘too true to be funny’ class. Unfortunately, what Mo’s lot do to heretics such as the Bahais is definitely not funny.

  32. plainsuch says:

Yikes .It appears to be the another Bush/Cheney situation from year 2000. Except this time the Clown Prince is played by Trump and the Evil Vizier is Pence. The man at the controls is a stone cold Fascist and theocrat. http://indianavote.blogspot.com/2012/01/mike-pence-and-c-street-cult-aka.html
