That Satan.

    Fun guy, Satan.

  2. spruis says:

I wonder how it is that the all-powerful god tolerates any opposition at all. How can Satan be god’s adversary and do anything that was not god’s will. God could unmake Satan with a thought, yet … I don’t think this is an example of god working in mysterious ways, I think this is god working in cahoots with the enemy! Down with Quislings!

  3. Nassar Ben Houdja says:

    Sex education, remember
There are dozens of types of gender
    What kind are you?
    Find one that is new
Be a thumper, thruster or thwacker.

  4. BirdsofBmore says:

Still my favorite depiction of Satan from my favorite actor. “I’m a fan of man.”

  5. 1happyheathen says:

I’m sure they, jebus and mo, just want them (the children) to know what to expect from their clergy….

  6. arbeyu says:

Many religions promote excellent sex education, such as “Abstinence Only” and “Condoms Have Holes In Them”. Oh, wait a minute!

  7. W, Corvi says:

It IS interesting, isn’t it, that god will tolerate NOTHING from humans, but puts up with Satan no problem?

  8. Mark A Willis says:

    God and Satan, fictitious friends.

  9. M27Holts says:

Satan is nothing more than an anthropomorphic characterisation of sapiens dark side.

  10. Michael says:

I find it amusing that Abrahamists claim their Iron Age, Middle Eastern, tribal god is the creator of a universe with hundreds of billions of galaxies and trillions of stars and planets and is also concerned about teenage masturbation.

  11. Donn says:

You know that the suppressed but true story makes a lot more sense. Abraham’s god is Satan, created the world, our bodies and masturbation. Now does that add up? You bet it does! And Jesus was here to save us from that shit, but unfortunately the whole thing was a little difficult to explain, and it got taken over by the Evil One’s minions in the ensuing couple centuries and that message got lost, and they’re now father and son, with slightly different ideas about things.

  12. two cents' worth says:

arbeyu, you might find it heartening to know that some religions really do promote good sex ed. The Unitarian Universalist Association and the United Church of Christ have developed a curriculum for lifespan sexuality education that explicitly contradicts panel 4 of the cartoon. (If you’re curious, see .) As you’ve probably inferred, neither sect takes the Bible or the Koran literally, so I can only imagine what J & M would have to say about it.

  13. two cents' worth says:

Whether a believer thinks that the creator was God or Satan, I think Neil deGrasse Tyson’s arguments against intelligent design still hold. The argument I’m recalling now is that an intelligent designer wouldn’t put an entertainment complex in the middle of a sewage system. (Oh, wait. Does that argument support the idea that Satan was the creator? 😉 )

  14. Someone says:

Better to masturbate in Hell than be forcibly non-sexual in Heaven.

  15. If God really didn’t want us to masturbate He’d have made our arms shorter.

  16. ac says:

richardelguru, even animals with no hands manage to masturbate, even the dolphins:

    many traps indeed.

  17. M27Holts says:

When I was 14 I attempted to masturbate myself to death. I can only dream about the ability to masturbate on the hour every hour…..sigh

  18. Troubleshooter says:

So … “God gets very angry if they touch themselves.” And just how does ol’ Yahweh feel if one of his priests touch them, eh?

  19. pink squirrel says:

re ‘I wonder how it is that the all-powerful god tolerates any opposition at all.’
it doesn’t – the obvious answer is that Satan {pbuh] is working with and for ‘god’ in a similar way to Corbyn working with and for May to impose Brexit [ which
is a form of mental masturbation for racists]

  20. Sparky_Shark says:

Okay – 10pts for Pink Squirrel for making the link between Brexit and Wankers. Bravo, Sir/Madam, Bravo!

  21. Laripu says:

spruis, you wrote “How can Satan be god’s adversary and do anything that was not god’s will. God could unmake Satan with a thought, yet …”

The contradiction of religion is that suffering is necessary, but believers want a god that is the font of all goodness. Evolution, being unrelated to human understanding of good and evil, does not have that contradiction.

Even religious people acknowledge the contradiction. To quote Leonard Cohen in “You Want It Darker”:

“There’s a lover in the story
But the story’s still the same
    There’s a lullaby for suffering
    And a paradox to blame
But it’s written in the scriptures
And it’s not some idle claim
    You want it darker
    We kill the flame”

The solution to the paradox is evolution.

  22. M27Holts says:

The instability in the middle East is causing great concern for people with brains. The fundamentalist religious nutters are celebrating the escalating tensions and eagerly await the Armageddon. To me such eagerness is definitely “SATANIC”!

  23. Someone says:

M27Holts, this and DT’s churlish revocation of the US in the Iran nuclear deal brings to mind that line from The Omen:
“The Devil’s son will rise in politics.”

  24. Walter says:

Somehow — Those two rub me the wrong way.
