    Given Mo’s warlord status at the time, I wonder whether it was like rock stars, having sex with underaged girls. Or septuagenarian celebrities marrying very young women.

    Jerry Lee Lewis and Bill Wyman are particularly interesting.

    Among the Kalahari Bushmen it was not uncommon for a girl to marry at nine. It would be to a teenage boy though, and there would be no sex until after her first period. (The Bushmen had little privacy in their lives, and social rules like this were rarely broken).

    Following up on Alan’s comment, I think something similar is said to be the case with Mo & Aisha…that there was a “marriage” but no consummation until she reached womanhood (of the day) at around 12 but could have been anywhere from 9 to 16

    In terms of Physiology most xx are fully mature by 14? I was involved in lots of sexual activity betwixt the ages of 11 and 16 with girls of a similar age? This is normal No?

    In the US, the laws defining statutory rape and the age of consent vary by state. Many make a distinction based on a difference in age between the people having sex.

    It doesn’t always make sense. To quote from the link below, “In Ohio, sexual intercourse with someone under 13 years of age is illegal regardless of the age of the defendant. However, if the victim is above this minimum age requirement (13) and below the age of consent (16), it is only illegal to engage in sexual intercourse with that individual if the defendant is at least 18 years of age.”

    So in Ohio, a 17-year-old person can legally have sex with a 14-year-old. They can be in a good and loving relationship. One year later when they’re 18 and and 15, that sex has become illegal.

    Many states have rules involving age differentials, which diminish depending on the age of the younger person. Some have no such thing: in Wisconsin, the age of consent is 18. If a person who has passed their 18th birthday by 1 week has sex with someone who turns 18 in 1 week, that’s considered statutory rape.

    There are some people that can be shaped. Others assume an attitude of rebellion that makes any attempt backfire. But even among those that can be shaped, most will be unhappy. Then the manipulative shaper may one day not wake up, and be discovered with a knife embedded in his back. Whatever the law is, he will have earned himself that end.

    Note that I’ve postulated, in the above, that the manipulator is male and the innocent manipulated person is female. However it’s frequently the reverse. When it is, it plays out differently. Female manipulators not only are rarely punished, often they have high social standing. I believe that’s because they’re better at it, and that those they manipulate aren’t as sympathetic as innocent young girls.

    Abusers are everywhere.

    Laws are arbitrary and necessary to prevent abuse but to try and make the law flexible makes for subjective application and therefor bias…twas ever thus…

    Laripu. In a catholic school near me a lad (who went on to be a famous soap actor) got his married English teacher pregnant..she was 28ish he was 13/14. He was expelled and she was relocated to another school. This was in the early 80s…

    Richard II is widely considered to have been homosexual, as were William I and Edward II. Among the reasons for deposing him were ‘his many sodomies’ and his unhealthy favouritism of Robert de Vere.
    He produced no offspring from either wife and one can only wonder what ‘shaping her in accordance with his ideal ‘ might mean.

    M27Holts, today in the US she’d be giving birth to that baby in prison. There are many well known cases here, but I remember two in particular.

    If you Google teacher pregnant by student, you’ll find that many of those are in Florida. Some in Texas. I can’t think of a reason.
