Mo actually made this joke hundreds of years ago, as recorded in Sahih Bukhari.

Circular reasoning; because actual critical thinking is just too hard.

  2. Ben in Hertfordshire says:

    Spot on.
This rational is what leaves me with a headache when I’m faced with it

  3. Quine Duhem says:

We shouldn’t be too sure about Mo’s logical deficiencies: one person’s circular reasoning is another person’s reciprocal containment.

  4. Laripu says:

Ah, I see. Then according to the precepts our comic strip Mo has elucidated, a male to female trans woman is deficient in neither intelligence nor religion.

I do have a question about countries with Islamic majorities, that require women to cover up in various ways. (i.e. hijab, chador, niqab, burka, abaya, shayla, boshiya). In those countries are male to female trans woman required to cover up? I mean… according to some, they’re still actually men, right?

    😀

  5. Laripu says:

I’ve just read that “As early as 1988, gender reassignment surgery was declared acceptable under Islamic law by scholars at Egypt’s Al-Azhar, the world’s oldest Islamic university. In Iran, in 1987, Ayatollah Khomeini declared transgender surgical operations allowable.”

    It’s from here: https://www.hrc.org/resources/stances-of-faiths-on-lgbt-issues-islam

Apparently, homosexuality is a sin but a person is not committing that sin if they have trans surgery.

So I guess the deficiencies in intelligence and religion magically occur post-surgery, in trans women.

What about trans men? According to Islam, do the deficiencies evaporate due to metoidioplasty and scrotoplasty, with the construction of a neopenis and neoscrotum? Are additional hormones religiously required?

  6. Laripu says:

Oh, one more thing: happy New Year. May all your dreams come true. 🙂

  7. Wee Jim says:

Women’s judgment is unbalanced by hormones some of the time. Men’s judgment is unbalanced by hormones all the time.
A woman I knew had to take male hormones as part of medical treatment. Her response was to ask “How can you bear to feel like that all the time?”

  8. postdoggerel says:

Wee Jim, a man, whose wife complained on his chronic drinking, told his wife, who didn’t drink, that she should try it to see what it was all about. She took him up on it and downed a jigger of whiskey. Gasping and choking she managed to blurt out “How can you stand that stuff?” He said “See? All that time you thought I was having fun.”

  9. M27Holts says:

The art of drinking is to attain the level of blood alcohol that makes you and tge world seem a much friendlier place. Then just try to keep it at that level. It requires much practice….

  10. Postdoggerel says:

A system that is in a steady state may not necessarily be in a state of dynamic equilibrium.

  11. Son of Glenner says:

Why one man only equal to two women in court? Why not three or four?

  12. mcalex says:

Never mind why Allah’s messenger is frequenting the dwellings of hell fire, did nobody point out to him that this piece contradicts the entirety of his argument: ‘I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.’

  13. M27Holts says:

Cracking name Gromit…”Dwelling of Hell Fire”. Shall be the name of my bar when I retire. With a massive red devil mascot as it’s sign…SKOL!

  14. Succubus ov Satan says:

Laripu- Islamic nations have no transwomen – (not any still alive anyway) except for Iran which has many transwomen
