    This is a good one!

  2. E.A. Blair says:

I’m quite sure you could so something similar using the bible and “Christians”.

  3. M27Holts says:

And don’t people following Judaism celebrate the day that their loving and peaceful god destroyed thousands of children who unfortunately had parents who worshipped other gods? Thats endorsing selective genocide is it not?

  4. Rrr says:

    Absolutely, M27.
A true, benevolent, righteous God would instead endorse indiscriminate genocide.
If any of those things were actually possible.

  5. BuppyJam says:

Excellent. A bit too true for some of the viewers of this site.

  6. M27Holts says:

I am sick and tired of religious apoligists that keep on insisting that it isn’t the stupid archaic anachronistic lunacy of organised religions that propogates mistrust, hatred abd violence in the 21st century…oh and insisting that religions are good for people what utter tosh…

  7. Henry Ford says:

Oh, that’s great…Can I use this in the future? Hehe ….

  8. Author says:

E.A. Blair – No, you cannot do something similar with the Bible, because the writers of the Bible were not obsessed with vilifying unbelievers.

Henry Ford – Yes, you can use this, or any other J&M comic, whenever you like.

    Indiscrimate genocide is certainly possible.

Good News, the Geezer prosecuted for burning a quran has won his appeal….and in other news…a geezer identifying as a woman has been jailed for not telling the geezer he seduced he still had a penis thus non concensual sex…

As I would define genocide, it is focused on some particular group or people; thus NOT indiscriminate. While this may be debatable, that was at least my snarky point, above.

You can even publish a cartoon about it.

Not to detract from Hitchens’ opening about crying “fire” in a theatre, what could be worse?
    Crying “ICE” at a Quinceanera.

  15. M27Holts says:

Postdog, it’s that fine speech that I use as the basis for all my own thoughts on this site. It should be made mandatory for all children in their Cultural and Social studies lessons…Amen…

I got a pamphlette through my door inviting me to attend my local kingdom hall for a talk on the Devil and his plan to destroy mankind through logic, science and modern demonic technology. The talk was on Saturday, and since my Wife was still in hospital recovering from major surgery and visiting wasn’t till 14:00 I attended..The speaker was highly entertaining…right peeps..who can try and predict the major thrusts of his diatribe against the “evils” and the cunning plan Satan is orchestrating…

  17. Bab El Wad says:

M27 the answer to your question on ‘people following Judaism . . .’ is no. I’m really not sure what you’re referring to? Of course the Old Testament contains a bunch of nasty stuff that was par for the course in the Iron Age, but there are no Jewish festivals that celebrate the destruction in these stories. I am sure you don’t mean to, but the suggestion that Jews would celebrate the destruction of children specifically is cutting things very fine. There’s enough craziness out there to ridicule without making extra stuff up.

  18. M27Holts says:

    Not heard of “passover” then?

  19. Bab El Wad says:

Heard of it, and very familiar with it. Yes, the biblical story includes lots of nasty stuff including of course the “smiting of the firstborn”. But that is a long way from suggesting this is celebrated as part of the passover ritual. It is not; the ‘celebration’ focusses on the theme of liberation.
It’s like suggesting someone who is happy about Allies winning the second world war, then you must be very happy about 25,000 people in Dresden burning to death. I hope as J&M readers we are all sophisticated enough to get these nuances.
It is of course an issue with Islam that, unlike Judaism and Christianity, it has not had much of a enlightenment phase and still (as a generalization) interprets things very literally. Most Jewish and Christian denominations don’t. While they’re all about sky fairies, some sky fairies are nastier than others !
