  1. Time and chance, burnout and mortality, happeneth to us all.

I’m just delighted that Author has managed to produce such a magnificent body of work, which has attracted so many fine commenters over the years.

  2. On the subject of the many fine exchanges inspired by J&M since the beginning, I want to mention I am doing a second read-through of the entire collection; I’m up to 2012.

I would very much like to see a complete hard-copy edition of the comic, comments and all.

I am admittedly clueless as to what copyright laws would apply, though it seems to me that Author should have the right to publish the free and unsolicited comments sent to his website. I am sure that by now there’s established legal guidelines that cover this situation.

Some of the exchanges here have been deeply philosophical, extremely moving, wonderfully entertaining. Some of the discussions between FreeFox and others such as Darwin Harmless, Acolyte of Sagan, Walter Walcarpet- many more – deserve preservation for the ages. I would even say they have considerable historical value.

Not sure just how long such a compendium would be; maybe a million words or more. So publishing it would be a major undertaking. Might try it as an electronic version first; I for one would buy that instantly.

  3. Can you tell me when I first posted? I was introduced to this site by a fellow IT consultant but I can’t remember who, when or where? I’m sure the webmaster has first joined/posted, no of posts metrics…

  4. Okay, seeing the original with different art is making my scratch my head. haha

  5. Am I being Irrational, or (in respect to the Hero Indian Pilot incident) but isn’t it time that Muslins shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the cockpit of an aeroplane, due to the fact they follow a cult leader who would definately have instructed his followers to crash planes into infidels had he been alive today?

  6. I think it’s somewhere in “Contact” where Carl Sagan points out, rather elegantly, the propensity of religion to make wondrous predictions…after the fact.

  7. Its like the scholars (charlatans) who try and find historical events to fit the prophetic quatrains of Nostradamus. I watched a video in the 1980’s where the expert predicted from Nostradamus quatrains that the world would end in 1999 after jerusalem was obliterated by atomic weapons….it didn’t come true did it…
