    heheheh — mo vs. mo!
problem is, the pacifist mo might get clobbered by the aggressive mo. sad, aint’ it? but it’s the way the world has gone since day one… which means we’re not making much progress is it continues that way. remember that episode of star trek, where the black & white people battle the white & black people till there’s no one left?

  2. louis says:

those college course really got to moses, eh?

that’s cool. pass the bong, dude.

  3. TB says:

MOses is passive and Mohammed is aggressive?

Pro-Israel media seems to have brainwashed you well. When they got out of Egypt, Israel literally raped entire kingdoms. Took virgins as captive brides, and killed everything in sight.

Islam has at least a more stable civil code and rights for women.

Yes, Islam has more rights for women on Quran than Christianity has in Bible or Jews in Talmud/Torah.

  4. Allan Shariff says:

    OK, TB.

That’s cool. What ever works for you, man.

  5. TB says:

    Yeah, pass the bong 😀

“That’s cool. What ever works for you, man” with Mo and Mo with bong.

That deserves a T-Shirt! Do you make deliveries in Turkey? I got my credit card yesterday!

  6. Markk says:

    Postmodernist Moses. Awesome.

  7. Cat says:

How does one actually “literally rape entire kingdoms”? I’d think there would be some anatomical issues there.

Anyone else remember the squad squad?

  8. r00db00y says:

“No Mo, it is not ‘whatever works for me’. Atheism is science’s ultimate revelation to mankind and we believers will basically talk everyone to death until the whole world submits to the religion of probability!”

Sorry, couldn’t resist that one 😀

  9. arensb says:

    Postmodernist Moses

Are you suggesting that this strip should be renamed to “Jesus and Mo and PoMoMo”?

  10. TB says:

@r00db00y: That’s cool. What ever works for you, man

    😀

  11. Jonathan says:

“Islam has at least a more stable civil code and rights for women.

Yes, Islam has more rights for women on Quran than Christianity has in Bible or Jews in Talmud/Torah.”

Which is not to say that (if true) it has *enough* rights for women. Better is not the same as good. And apparently there is nothing in the Quran forbidding Taliban-style oppression of women. And whatever rights it does include for women are only for those women who adhere to the oppressive behavioral codes.

Thankfully, most countries don’t have a religion as a government. That’s one of the nice things about democracy: if women vote (assuming they *have* the vote) to have the same rights as men, they can have the same rights as men.

Btw, magnificent comic. What happens in the next panel?

  12. TB says:

@ Jonathan. Of course it isn’t, these laws are made by solely filthy men who couldn’t control their boners a minute, and thought women were chattel, and they should own as many as possible. Animals.

By the way, ladies and gentlemen, my little country, Turkey, has a considerable secular population, and I hope you are up to date of the recent crisis. The country is being politically infested more with pro-Arabic Islamic fundies, and the recent protests were organized by mostly WOMEN, without shootings, without fighting, and it made such an impression that the fundie government relinquished its claim to set up their own president through Parliamental election.

Explanation : for the first time in history, we will elect the president DIRECTLY. As we elect the parliamentaries who once elected them.

I thank my country’s great women who rose up for our rights.

  13. Jonathan says:

Yes, TB I’ve been following it, though not in detail. The way it’s being portrayed in the west is as a violation of democratic principles. To oversimplify, the news agencies are implying it is the evil secularist military stopping the religious democratic movement.

Sometimes I wonder which is more important for the preservation of individual rights – democracy or secularism. I think they are both essential. It raises the old question: what happens to a democracy when the majority is ignorant? I fear that Turkey’s secular ideal is slowly being eroded away – by democracy?

What is your opinion, TB? Would you support military intervention to prevent rule by a democratically elected Islamic government?

  14. ambour001 says:

    Heavy shit, man. Heavy shit.

  15. Ketil G says:

hehe this was also a funny strip 🙂

  16. TB says:

@ Jonathan: Islamic fundamentalism, or Military Coup? Both are very bad, but Islamic fundieness has played very foul in recent times.

I’ll TRY to be be brief, here is the info:

    1) The lethargic left and the Secular Republican party has made no plans on their own for economy, neither did they adhere to IMF, resisted it weakly, doing no good. It resulted in a massive vote rush to the new AKP and its ambitious leader, Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan, who was seen with a Taliban sheikh in his youth.

    2) Islamic fundie AKP, has played so foul that it simply managed to display an extreme show of nepotism, and made its parliamentaries and their relatives snatch away every position of power in the country, mostly media and telecommunications. It even overtook the Tubitak, the country’s sole R&D facility and appointed professors with extreme pro-Islamic view. They are so much in control that when the Protests began, electricity in some cities and villages “mysteriously” was cut off.

3)Using loopholes in tax and laws, the minister of economy made his son import enormous amounts of corn in a day, raising taxes on imports tomorrow, and then setting up the corn on the chicken farm his son owned. Crooked deeds like this were done in dozens by them.

    4) The clique of AKP said years ago that Mustafa Kemal’s ideals were corrupt and were going to be purified, that being a laicist and a Muslim was impossible and that Democracy can be harnessed for taqiyya, legal Islamic deceit for Islam’s glory. People turned to them because they have memories of a cheap digital clock, and they were seduced by small aid programs to poor people financed by money laundered from the very same people.

    Yes, my people are stupid.

So, I do not consider this election to be fair. The worst thing is, the whole country agreed to re-election, but in the middle of Summer, where most of the seculars will be out in holiday. And Islamic fundies will be at home.

A military regime is temporary, its damage can regenerate, yet religious infestation is near permanent, and extremely hard to cure.

  17. Jonathan says:

So I take it your answer is a reluctant yes to a military coup.

My people (Americans) are stupid too, though it hasn’t quite reached the point where sharia or the Christian equivalent seems imminent. Nevertheless, it is always distressing to see people turn away from reality and reason to seek the basis of the decisions they must make.

I sincerely hope this next election will not mean the end of secularism in Turkey.

  18. TB says:

Wait for further news. Until 22 july. Then the election begins, and non-AKP political groups have found a way to circumvent the vote problem. It seems we can vote from anywhere we register a month before.

Hopefully, Islamic fundies’ cries will be strangled. My sister hopefully won’t wear a hijab mandatorily.

BTW, Kurdish Yezidis killed a 7 yeard old girl of their own, stoned to death for “adultery”. It’s in youtube. Holy shit!

One more reason for banning of religion.

  19. TB says:

For Religion : DO NOT WANT

  20. Jonathan says:

I’ve heard of cases where young girls who are raped are killed for the crime of “adultery”. Apparently, under Islam any woman (or little girl) who is raped is guilty of having seduced her attacker.

In Germany (and I suspect other countries) a brother under 18 is usually selected to perform the “honor killing” (for whatever reason) because as a minor he will get off with a light sentence.

And as provocative as this comic is, I doubt we will be seeing Mohammed’s 9-year-old bride – who serves as the precedent for the legal marriage age for girls in Iran (and other Islamic countries?) of 9. But if any comic can handle this topic, this one can. (He suggested hopefully.)

  21. TB says:

“Apparently, under Islam any woman (or little girl) who is raped is guilty of having seduced her attacker.”

Nope. Quran very heavily forbids any physical violence on women, and warns Muslims that women have rights over men just as men have rights over them, in a Ying Yang style. The hormones these unevolved primates can’t control overrides any religious motivation unless it involves sex and violence.

Plus, the YEZIDIS stoned the Kurdish Girl to death a few days ago. Animals.

  22. meh says:

Quran very heavily forbids any physical violence on women, and warns Muslims that women have rights over men just as men have rights over them,

“Then banish them from your bed then scourge them with green sticks”
” For he hath given an advantage over them”

  23. Jonathan says:

And of course, the right to sex whenever the husband wants it. Again, the Quran protects only those women who conform to the rigid behavioral codes.

Of course, as with anything else, the Quran is also interpreted to serve the interests of those who seek a justification.

The Bible is also full of brutality, of course, though most western countries have distanced themselves from these aspects.

The threat posed by radical Islam comes from the fact that fundamentalists insist that the Quran be applied literally as if its contents applied to our times in exactly the same way as to the times when it was written.

  24. Cosh i Pi says:

“The threat posed by radical Islam comes from the fact that fundamentalists insist that the Quran be applied literally as if its contents applied to our times in exactly the same way as to the times when it was written.”

Indeed. That’s exactly the problem with fundamentalist Christianity, too. And fundamentalist Judaism. And, God (pick any one or more) help us, even one recently emerged brand of Hinduism.

  25. Mistral says:

Well, well, well, Jonathan… So your «people (Americans) are stupid too, though it hasn’t quite reached the point where sharia or the Christian equivalent seems imminent. Nevertheless, it is always distressing to see people turn away from reality and reason to seek the basis of the decisions they must make.»

Each and every one of your comments is fueled by that awful self-righteousness and self-delusion that fuel the rest of the world’s distaste for the US.

Who gave you the right to call your people American to the exclusion of Canadians, Mexicans and the whole of South America? And where have you been for the last eight years? Your sad country is run by fear and fearmongers, hypocrits who drag God into every debate, you all sustain a religious war and you dare to deny it. Your empire, Sir, such as it is, will not recover unless it goes back to its free powerful roots, and fast.

  26. Wow, rarely have I seen a foreigner express both this nation’s flaws (I’m optimistic enough to think they’re somewhat exaggerated) and the correct solution.

  27. dd says:

“A military regime is temporary, its damage can regenerate, yet religious infestation is near permanent, and extremely hard to cure.”

Islam is a disease of the royalty and hence of the government. From the time mohammed wrote to kings to accept islam or die, it has been a disease of the government. Islam (like christianity of 1000 years ago) will always try to infect the government, that is why democracy is very bad for Islam majority countries because muslims will feel compelled to vote for Islamic parties that when they come to power will destroy democracy in the name of islam. And that is why most Islamic countries are undemocratic. Dictatorship is a partial cure for Islamic extremism. Infection of the royalty with Islam is the primary means by which islam spread to other countries. Since the progress of civilization has wiped out the kings (almost), the spread of Islam has halted to an extent. And this causes frustration among muslims who seek to spread Islam further using other methords like emigration.

  28. peterNW1 says:

This one’s too politically correct. Christainity and Islam are fair game for ridicule but Judaism isn’t?

  29. Olorin says:

    Cool story mo.

  30. fenchurch says:

Whew, wow, OK, and here I thought that the actual practise of how real girls and women are treated in Islamic countries by the graces of cultural and religious justifications involved stoning, decapitation of prostitutes, “honour killings”, raping virgins about to be executed, segregation of the sexes (with the female side of things being shittier), requiring 4 male witnesses to corroborate any testimony of a female witness, and other horrors against equality, personhood, right to self-determination, and being guilty of tempting men if a strand of hair shows, but it looks like everything’s A-OK over there, because the Qu-uran forbids this sort of thing.

    My bad.

Must have been some anti-Islamic press from my clearly biased western media poisoning my mind.

  31. ottebrain says:

Yeah, well…whatever works for you guys…
