    Spot on!

This link below is to the most accurate, focussed piece I’ve seen on the self-congratulatory, self righteous modern woke Cancel Culture. It mentions my namesake Jesus. It’s the endspeech from a recent Bill Maher show.

The first time I encountered the traditional Jeezoid cancel culture (decades ago), the Catholic Legion of Decency was bleating rage about a new movie, “Night of the Living Dead.” It took me a long time to find and view it and I still can’t see why it might be BAD. I thought it was great.

Are Jesus and Mo only available in Black and white?

  4. paradoctor says:

    Gimme that old time woke-itude!

Mockingbird: religion is only available in black and white.

  5. Mockingbird says:

ParaDoctor :o) – You are invited to join 2500 volunteers needed to act as “refugees” aboard the bark “Trojan Horse” being fitted out at Calais to cross the English channel to England shortly.

The plan is to send distress signals that “Trojan Horse” is in difficulties while still close to the French coast. The British coastguard are then certain to take it in tow to Dover docks where all the refugees will be welcomed to live under sharia law.

Interested? Contact the BBC (Proms Dept) who consider it unlikely that the British authorities will notice the irony.

It looks like some posters irony meters are as broken as J&M’s

  7. M27Holts says:

I am reflecting on the situation of life, after quaffing strong IPA ales….and realising that most opinion is based on a minimal of first person experience…..in other words none of us know sweet f.a…..goodnight…ahhh my pizza has arrived…

  8. Laripu says:

M27Holts, it sounds like you’re saying “malt does more than Milton can to justify God’s ways to man.”.

    Are you from Shropshire?
    😉

  9. paradoctor says:

A Shropshire guy did sadly sigh
that malt does more than Milton can
to justify God’s ways to Man.
Now, to his cry, I do reply
    that pot can outdo poetry
to justify Man’s ways to me.

  10. Mockingbird says:

paradoctor – Upon reflection, please disregard the implied invitation above as it is felt your talent would be wasted on the trip.

  11. M27Holts says:

Laripu. No i’m from the Swinton, five miles north west of Manchester, England……21st century, suburban, schizoid man….

  12. Gargleblaster says:

Author: I get a (tranpired) link under the post of M27Holts from August 29, 7:40 pm to edit or request deletion of his post. I do not think that is meant to be there.

Keep up the good work of this comic, I will keep lurking (and, at odd times, commenting).

  13. Son of Glenner says:

Gargleblaster: That is an artefact of the new edit facility. I notice it was not attached to your message, so it may have been sorted now. (If it appears at the end of my message, it has not been fixed yet!)

As someone who works in customer service, this is the blinkered attitude I face everyday, from almost every person I deal with, whether the complaint is justified or not. For example, I cannot tell you how many times I have seen and heard the words, “You can’t just keep using the pandemic as an excuse,” or phrases to that effect, even though our services, staff and national facilities have been directly impacted by Covid, and will remain this way for a long time.

We even had someone recently threaten staff with corporal punishment, claim they’d sue the company for treason and invoke the Magna Carta as justification for their complaint. All because they didn’t receive a package on time. Monty Python couldn’t have made this shit up.

I refer to my job and the enervation that goes with it because I can easily imagine the entitlement I and my colleagues suffer from most of our clientele runs to other aspects of their personality, including religious and political views. I’ve copped many an earful of such views before and sometimes I don’t care much, best to let them vent, but the more aggravating ones are harder to steer because they will quickly raise complaints against you and demand management; and sometimes, they can have it. I’m not paid enough to deal with such drivel.

I guess it all boils down to how passionate you are about a subject or outlook. This year more than any other in my memory (I’m not yet 40) has really underlined passionate ignorance and arrogance abound.
