Lax parenting! I suppose ‘he’ DID compensate later, by flooding the entire planet and murdering everyone but Noah and a few hangers-on. Floaters-on might be a better term.

Love the final line in the original Bedazzled, with Peter Cook & Dudley Moore, where Cook as Satan tells God, “You’re unbelievable!” And belief is exactly what gods need to continue to exist. Pile on the catalogue of absurdities; perhaps one day we’ll rid ourselves of the ridiculous.

  2. M27Holts says:

If you read the brilliant Pratchett “Disc World” fictional novels (just in case you are a religious knob-sproket reading this) you will find that the gods in the stories, cease to exist once they have nobody believing in them…

God lied and the serpent told the truth and was punished for it. A and E, who didn’t actually know right from wrong were punished for believing the truth – along with their innocent descendents forever. Real evidence of a ‘loving’ father.
And if the big man made it all and was all knowing he knew what was coming anyway.

  4. Diane Campbell says:

It’s not god’s fault. Blame it on free will. At least that’s what the godbotherers say.

  5. Donn Cave says:

I’ve probably mentioned this before, one of the variety of Gnostic heresies maintains that the serpent was like Jesus a representative of the true god, offering liberation from the Yahweh evil demigod who has us trapped in his vile creation. It was a good story, but unfortunately without good tie-ins for viable ministry business, etc. Getting burned alive by the mainstream church was also unpopular.

Lord of the Rings is a far better story….get older kids reading Terry Pratchett too…I am thinking of starting a religion, based on the prophet Pratchett and his comedic teachings….🤔
