Ethanol requires larger doses over a smaller timeframe, but can itself cause death. My advice would be to drink neither. However, in moderation Ethanol can be a most pleasant drug…
Also, from memory, ethanol is an effective antidote to methanol in that it slows the decomposition of methanol into toxic form-aldehyde, so that the organism can break it down without fatally breaking down itself. Always a good outcome.
