Wow! You’re really putting the boot in this week! Well done!

  2. E.A. Blair says:

I always wondered what that fallacy was called.

  3. Quine Duhem says:

You should never put the boot in on someone’s hyperbolics. That’s too painful to think about.

  4. Mockingbird says:

Q D ~ You made me LOL, well done !

  5. Mockingbird says:

Author: Getting all of that into the last frame is a work of wonder. Nice one !

  6. Jesus F Iscariot says:

Sorryโ€ฆI just canโ€™t bring myself to believe in sky fairies and magical superbeings. Theist reframing: THEREFORE YOU WILLFULLY BLASPHEME BECAUSE YOU HATE AND DESPISE THE LOVING GOD AND YOU DESERVE TO BURN IN THE SULPHUROUS PIT FOR ETERNITY.

  7. Troubleshooter says:

    Could be worse.
    Instead of Hyperbolic
    It could have been Hypergolic!

Though J&M could have gotten a bang out of that! ๐Ÿ˜

  8. M27Holts says:

You should not really have a battle of wits with unarmed men surely?

  9. Mockingbird says:

    M27 ~ DON’T call me Shirley ! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. M27Holts says:

My mother could have been called Shirley….but she wasn’t she was am Edna….๐Ÿ˜Ž

  11. Mockingbird says:

M27 ~ Was that ‘cos she was christened in the morning?

  12. Laripu says:

Here’s a story from Associated Press, showing that the percentage of atheists and agnostics in the United States is increasing:

    https://apnews.com/article/lifestyle-religion-0722d2f1484d38163d75b32b6f095ddf

Accordinging to the article, a Pew poll says the fraction of “none” is 29%.

I feel this is generally positive, with one downside. American religious nuts are seeing their influence and power diminishing and like Taliban, ISIS, etc, they’re armed.

It’s going to be a rough ride. They might be fooled again, into supporting potential fascism; they say that in America fascism will come wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.

Honestly, I’m a bit worried. Politicians aren’t known to have the highest sense of morality.

  13. Troubleshooter says:

@Laripu I saw a news story similar to that one. Personally, I’m encouraged that the US is slowly but surely moving away from religion. Stipulated that there are a lot of ARMED believers out there, and that they are getting increasingly upset at their loss of influence (though have you looked at the Supreme Court lately???). If it comes down to it (and I sincerely hope it won’t!), I have no problem arming myself.

I just hope that cooler heads can prevail.

  14. postdoggerel says:

trouble shooter, cooler heads? Can anyone tell me just how bad it is to have an obsessive compulsive you’ve got to live with? It has recently dawned on me that this is a thing. I always thought psychologists/psychiatrists had their heads up their ass, but this disease is a true blue funk to deal with. Patience. Reconciliation. For a while, but then it starts all over again. damn.

  15. postdoggerel says:

Laripu, addendum, “You don’t have to be a genius to be a member of congress”.

  16. Rrr says:

Re US and assorted nuts, esp Supreme court
which recently turned down an appeal against a Texas law that contravened its previous verdict on Roe on abortion rights.

Cal. Governor Newsome then published an open letter to SCOTUS saying that with this verdict as support for States neglecting prior federal law, California would now make a law to allow for civil suits against anyone who imported or sold assault weapons in that state, with penalties starting at 10kUSD per instance. In other words, holding the Supreme Court responsible for subverting its own authority and by inference abdicating itself.

    Hello, Unintended consequences.

  17. M27Holts says:

Any country that allows it citizens to obtain assault rifles legally is a country I do not want to live in…

  18. postdoggerel says:

Who needs assault rifles when a British citizen can take down a terrorist with a narwhale tusk.

  19. Mockingbird says:

M27 ~ Don’t forget that in US if you shoot 10 unarmed people dead you will probably get away with a self-defense plea, plus compensation.

  20. Mockingbird says:

Post Dog ~ Didn’t do the whale much good though, did it? ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. postdoggerel says:

It was a bit late for the narwhal to be recognized, but the eponymous Mr. Gallant certainly was.

  22. M27Holts says:

Aye, muslim loons have to resort to home made bombs in blighty…in america they would be free to be preparing jihad backed up by tanks and air support….

  23. Oracles says:

Way to go with the hyper bollocks, Mo.
