As Mo promises in his Koran, “You have to figure it out for yourself. If you opt to be an infidel my scimitar will lop off your sacrilegious head. Very fair.”
There are a lot of people who believe that since the religions pose as moral authorities, morality is derived from religion. The world is crawling with counter-examples, different cultures that with significant moral differences but basically same religious institution, but it seems sort of awkward to point fingers at other cultures for, for example, rampant corruption among devout Christians in some latin cultures, or Afghan approval of killing one’s sister when similarly Islamic Indonesians would not approve (I think.) Would welcome better examples.
Does anyone have a link to-or title of-the comic where J face-plants on the bar muttering, “…fuck…I can’t do this anymore …” about his punishment absolving us of our sins? I’m trying to decide which print I want, and I know that’s a contender, but I can’t seem to find it.
Honestly, that’s mostly because I can’t seem to ignore the comments and just page through the comics themselves. Thanks in advance
OT—but damn pertinent: I finally stepped up & clicked on the Patreon button ( found on a comic from 2018, iirc ), and urge everyone to do likewise if at all possible. Author has several cheap tiers, and you can even save 10% by doing it all up front. Way worth it: few things in life give me 52 weeks of ( now smug ) pleasure for ~$43.
NOT laying guilt: I worked far too long at a job I absolutely loved but didn’t pay much. I get it! But, if you can, 1-4, or even 10 a month will help. I was rather surprised how low the monthly total is: there can’t be much beer money left after paying for hosting and all the protection needed here.
The problem is also exacerbated by religious apologists usually peddling some woke agenda. The mass media (especially the BBC) are hell bent on making Islamic atrocities a product of white supremacy and thick white skinhead nazi’s…
I think the Top Ten is only visible on a computer, not a tablet or phone. It was compiled back in the day when you could count Facebook ‘likes’ and might be out of date now:
1. birth
2. women2
3. abuse2
4. egg
5. hear
6. used
7. dress
8. small
9. tweet
10. fools2
Thanks for the top ten list, Author, although, to my shame, I had not noticed that it’s to the right of the strip every week, even though I often look up the random oldie immediately under it! Silly me! I must be getting senile at only eighty-one!
Too serious a situation in Europe for casual mockery. Since history has a strange way of repeating itself , the naked ape propensity for violence will end in self destruction. With a real life Bond villain in charge of 30 armoured divisions and likely to attempt to do what hitler couldn’t do in reverse…only a matter of time before atomic weapons are used…then we enter the end-game for this brief period of population growth…
M27Holts, I’m similarly pessimistic. There are three things that could hurt us badly over time: 1) nuclear war, as you said, 2) climate change, and 3) the food chain being full of endocrine disruptors.
We could possibly escape extinction from one of these catastrophes. But all three simultaneously? Especially since each affects the other.
The most important thing would be to avoid a nuclear war, and somehow avoid any war. Then bring all of technology to bear on solving the other two problems. I don’t think the human race is intelligent enough for that, statistically, on the whole. Some of the smartest people see more pecuniary benefit in designing video games and special effects than in minimizing existential threats.
And as to war? How can we avoid the thing that has pock-marked all of human history from the very beginning.
I probably won’t live to see the bitter end, but I think we’re well and truly f√¢ked.
M27, Putin’s father was an atheist and his mother was a devout Christian. She had him baptized secretly, and he still wears his baptismal cross. He plays religion like Trump. https://unherd.com/2022/02/putins-spiritual-destiny/

Jesus & Mo (the characters) are absurd, blinkered, and oddly very sweet. J&M (the cartoon) is brilliant: sharp, delicious, irresistible. Salman Rushdie
Jesus and Mo cartoons are wonderfully funny and true. Richard Dawkins
Jesus and Mo make the world a better place, bless their little hearts. Ophelia Benson
In a world defined by outrage and offence and liberal spinelessness, Jesus and Mo is a treasure, whose value we should never fail to recognize. Read them. Laugh. And think. Kenan Malik
The brilliant, celebrated, freaking hilarious atheist comic strip ... Greta Christina
...rays of sanity in a befuddled world. Keri Hulme
The liveliest depictions of Muhammad currently available... Malise Ruthven
J & Mo is the funniest and most consistently thought-provoking cartoon strip on the Net. In a saner world, it would run in a major newspaper. Nelson Jones, Heresy Corner
Consistently amusing, frequently thought-provoking and often heart-warming. New Humanist
Jesus & Mo is one of the most wonderful things on the internet.. JT Eberhard
Wittily captures much of the absurdity of religious apologetics. Mano Singham
I love jesusandmo.net cartoons - witty and sharp! Katha Pollitt
Often hilarious, frequently wry, these cartoons do what all the best cartoons do: they tell the truth through humour. Terry Sanderson, NSS President
...a wonderfully acid British cartoonist... Nick Cohen
I love the scrappy mockery of Jesus and Mo. Freedom of speech
includes the freedom to mock any person, any thing, any activity, and
any belief -- and J&M stands up for this unflinchingly Richard Stallman
...empowering, important and deeply progressive, not to mention hilarious... Council of Ex-Muslims
Imagine….
Lest we forget what the Buddhist said to the Hot Dog vendor: “Make me one with everything”.

Otterbe, I think that’s “egg” – number 4 in the top ten.
“number 4 in the top ten”?
I would be quite interested to see your top ten, just to satisfy my nosy curiosity.
That’s it. Much appreciated, Author

Excellent opportunity for mockery by M27Holts!

Laripu, we may not see the bitter end, but JWST will show us the beginning.
I see that the Archbishops of York and Canterbury have called for the entire Church of England to have a day of prayer for Ukraine.
That will sort out Putin real quick, and serve him right!
Isn’t Putrid a devout christian? Just asking like…
