  1. Steve says:

Love the new artwork! Keep it up Jesus and Mo’!

  2. jean-françois says:

why is jesus’s beard not the same colour as his hair? is he making some kind of fashion statement?

  3. Peter Harris says:

Surely Catholics are “wanktarded” rather than us Godless, wank-happy heathens?

  4. Bodach says:

“Wanktard”? That’s actually pretty good. I’ll be using that at work today.

  5. Ken says:

I just love your stuff, me being fiercely anti-religious, keep up the great work!

  6. kane148 says:

Yay elbows! lol I like the art upgrade, but as Jean said, why is Jesus’ beard different from his hair?

  7. John Moore says:

Godless Wanktard is so un-PC I can’t beleive that Author allowed this. I think this site has been hijacked by hackers. Probably Muslim anti-atheists……not that there is anything wrong with that!!!!!

  8. Poor Richard says:

The genes determining beard color and top-of-the-head hair color are not the same. Many blonds have reddish beards. My complaint about the new Jesus is that his beard should be more scraggly, suggesting suffering and age (2000 years, wow).

As Poor Richard likes to say, “Religion is headed tankward, though its innumerable wanktards block the way.”

  9. Rafael says:

Ah! It’s great to see that Mo has stopped smiling. No more wanktard grins!

  10. Submoron says:

    1) Poor Richard’s right: Bedrich Smetana had blue-black hair and a bright ginger beard!
    2) Do both Jesus and Mo have remote controls? Will there be a power struggle?

  11. joe says:

That’s not ad-hominem. Why can’t anyone get this right?
Internet people should be banned from ever using accusations of “logical fallacies”.

  12. John Moore says:

@ Submoron – those are game controllers….but the game is Life on Earth…

  13. Chris says:

Agreed, Jesus’ beard is a bit too heavy – comes across like a weird shadow of his jawline. The rest of the art upgrade is cool.

From Wik: “The fallacy only occurs if personal attacks are employed in the stead of an argument to devalue an argument by attacking the speaker, not personal insults in the middle of an otherwise sound argument or insults that stand alone.” So panel 4 is maybe not ad hominem… but panels 1-3 are!

  14. The new artwork is growing on me. And the dialogue is as excellent as ever.

    TRiG.

  15. TIE says:

    non-permanently-smiling Mo is much better!

    good strip as usual

  16. James says:

I liked the old J&M. I tried to like the new ones. Thanks for all the excellent strips. I’ll drop in again but consider me unsubscribed. I wish you the best of luck with the creepy new Dick Bruna derived artwork, but I really can’t stand it. Sorry.

  17. BWM says:

Is it just me, or does Mo’s turban, thanks to the cleaner art, look rather large? Like, bigger than his head? I guess it did before, but for some reason, it’s jumping out at me.

  18. Guzio says:

Author, why you don’t try black hair on Jesus? I remember that someone complained about it once, and yeah… you are like repeating the western stereothipe of the blonde Jesus, which is nothing more than a cliche. Considering that he was hebrew, he musn’t have blonde hair.

  19. Toast in the machine says:

In the fourth panel J ‘n’ M’s argument is ‘We have no need to make ad hominem attacks… because we are not godless wanktards‘. Quoting the Wiki again: ‘an argument which links the validity of a premise to an irrelevant characteristic or belief of the person advocating the premise‘ – so this is an ad hominem argument. The fact (or not) that we (atheists) are godless wanktards has no bearing on whether or not J&M don’t need to resort to ad hominem attacks themselves. Which they clearly do. There might be a word for that.

On a separate note, the boys appear to be evolving before my eyes. The same word might cover that too.

  20. Sach says:

    I don’t like Jesus’ mouth.
The one before was much better.

  21. Rosemarie says:

jean-françois, kane 148 and BWM: Let me give a woman’s view on Jesus’s beard and hair colour. The darker beard is to match the dark thorny headband. The headband is dark to offset the golden spaghetti locks we know Jesus had. The ancient masters knew that because they painted him that way.
Mo’s turban is bigger than previously to accommodate a hot water bottle underneath or another turban because it is winter and he does not like the cold.

  22. Tie says:

I still like the old designs much, much better though.

  23. Dave Dell says:

I want a T Shirt that says “Godless Wanktard”.

  24. nina says:

I agree – godless wanktard would make a great t-shirt

I like the blended new artwork – Mo shouldn’t have smiled – that suggested too much that he had more nuanced approach to the stuff he spews – and he really doesn’t.

Jebus’ bears should be mroe scraggly tho – I liked it better because it made him appear less manly and capable – guys who can only manage a scraggly beard really should shave – it added a level of self denial to his character

  25. nina says:

    sorry, not enough coffee

Jesus’ beard – not bears – should be more scraggly

  26. Zep says:

Anyone notice J&M are using game consoles? Irony-plus on the “Godless wanktards” comment! Perhaps there should have been “BLEEP” and “BLOOP” sounds coming from the TV… Well played, Author, nonetheless!

  27. BucketBoy says:

Woohoo! After complaining about Australian Xenu-freaks a few strips ago – http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8367124.stm – WOOHOO! Our parliament has them under investigation!

PLEASE let it be outlawed in Australia! I love restriction of religious freedom!

  28. “Yay elbows!”

They’ve always had elbows for the fully-dressed out of bed shots – it’s the naked from the waist up, in bed shots that have the wormy arms that don’t bend. It is my considered view that author should either 1) make their arms bend even if he can’t draw anatomically correct elbows or 2) clothe them in long-sleeve Tshirts in bed because apparently he has no problem drawing clothed elbows. So far author has resisted this advice. The future is enigmatic.

  29. Intelligent Designer says:

Clearly Author can turn out a very nice outer elbow-in-sleeve, it’s just the inside crease that is a problem. Author might try drawing the characters’ naked arms as if they were clothed in very tight sleeves, thus negating this anconophobia s/he has, or alternatively, ensure they are reading very big books that cover the offending anatomy completely. Sex, by Madonna, for example, is a good 23 inches across when opened fully 😉

  30. yelinna says:

I prefer the eyes of J and Mo like this. They look better now. But I miss the child-like drawing of their furniture, TV, playstation controls, iMac…

I want to know what Mo is always gamming!!

  31. fenchurch says:

@jean-françois : It’s a little known secret that Jesus’s carpet not only didn’t match the drapes, but the valance as well.

  32. Cephas Atheos says:

The holy spirit was blonde, who knew?

Having just read through the archives, I see the J-man’s “beard” as more of a moss encrustation. Dare I say moss-addy? I’m lichen’ it!
