    Nice one!

Could also be applied to Fox News

  4. BrainLogic says:

And they both claim, “You Jews claim antisemitism if anyone says anything about Jews or Israel!” without hearing what they’re responding to. This cartoon beautifully illustrates how they both carry that chosen ignorance futher.

By the way, just as James Bond is 007, licence to kill, I call those who choose ignorance 00-stupid, license to die — abbreviated “st00pid.”

  5. Nassar Ben Houdja says:

O Dear, it is to pout
The athiests are feeling left out?
    Assorted believers distained
    Athiests denied and restrained
Get noticed with a stupid shout.

  6. FreeFox says:

    “victimaphilia”…? I love it… ^_^

(And according to google you even coined that word! Brilliant!)

  7. Another classic. Interesting how groups like to claim victimhood. I actually get tired of atheists making the same complaint. We’re lucky to live in a world, a society, and a time when we don’t get burned at the stake or stoned for denying the sky faerie. Now if an avowed atheist could just get elected president of the Untied States, that would be progress.

  8. @mkrockey thanks for the link. I like the tone of this writing. Of course I agree with what he is saying, to that makes it easy. I haven’t run it past my fundie friends yet, but I am tempted.

I enjoy your comic greatly, and I certainly agree with you about victimhood competition.

Just remember though, it was liberals — such as yourself (?) — who invented this competition, as a side effect of their efforts to advance the interests of their own preferred victim groups (blacks, women, LGBTs, etc.). Conservatives who do this are simply copying a successful liberal tactic.

JB, I’d trace it a little further back than that. Martyrdom has been a mainstay of Christianity since its inception.

I’ve seen it alleged that the reason the Christians got the persecution treatment in Rome in the first place was because they couldn’t leave the other religions alone. Aggressive proselytising and knocking down others’ temples was considered very bad form. As anyone would agree, early on a Saturday morning, with JWs or Mormons knocking on the front door.

  11. HaggisForBrains says:

@mkrockey – brilliant link, thanks. I may have to spend an hour or two going through that site.

  12. J Ascher says:

There are none so offended as those who take offense. Perhaps Jesus should turn the other cheek so that we may blaspheme him yet again!

  13. FreeFox says:

@JB: As a proud, card-carrying self-avowed victimaphile (hey, uke queer ex-con whose friends are junkies, throwaways, runaways, homeless, gypsies, orphans, and shamans from a minority even suppressed by scandianavians!) I can only say that those liberals were by and large totally right. Who if not the week, downtrodden, exploited, exiled and lost should be helped, protected, sheltered, and given affection? I don’t mind peeps calling attention to genuine need. It’s rich, fat, protected swine bemoaning the loss of their unfair priviledges that makes a farce out of it. ^_^

(I kinda like that both ideas, “God helps those who help themselves” and “The meek shall inherit/love thy neighbour, etc.” are so central to Christianity, even if it seems that all of the kindly ones stayed on one side of the Atlantic and only the cold-hearted elitists crossed over.)

@mkrockey: Aye, pretty brilliant and great fun to read. Ta!

  14. @JohnnieCanuck

I think that the martyrdom that runs deep in Christendom just shows how far the believers will go to avoid realty.

  15. Prithvi says:

    Bull’s eye 🙂

  16. Neuseline says:

    Superb. So true.

  17. carolita says:

I think it’s directed against barmadams. It’s always “what do you think, barmaid?” But do you ever think about the barmadams? 😉
