Burkas can have some advantage over (semi)nudity. The only visible physical parts underneath are the eyes. If these are beautifully brilliant enough, they turn me on. Why not; my imagination has offered me any variety I may wish. .-
Apparently Playboy’s model is wearing a hijab. I remind my mates here that a hijab is not a burka, though the modesty argument for its use is the same bullshit, only served in smaller bowls. I have no objection to the hijab. Well, no more than I object to a Catholic wearing a crucifix, that repulsive symbol of shame, torture, and blood sacrifice.
I do appreciate the irony that our Author points out. This woman is so modest that she wants to be displayed and become famous. Right.
I object to any garb that is supposed to demonstrate female modesty, in the same way that I object to Kim Celebrity getting her tits out for the sake of a front page. It is NOT about female empowerment, it is about putting women ‘in their place’. Any Muslim woman that chooses to (as opposed to the majority who are obliged to) wear a head scarf or bin bag is no different to one of the Kardashians. Not worth a shit. Oops, did I get carried away?
I have plenty of objection to the hijab. In Iran there are religious police who can arrest women for not wearing it “correctly” enough. Not wearing it at all is not an option. It’s not comparable to wearing a cross.
I remember a girl I saw in a market in Morocco a few years back. She was fully covered apart from her eyes, and I’ll never forget those eyes. They were exquisite, hungry and fathomless and when she looked at me I sort of melted inside – an event far more memorable and erotic than encounters with any number of semi- or un-clad images that I encounter on the internet.

I recall (probably badly) an episode of ‘Outnumbered’ on the Dave channel (BBC -originally, I suspect. It’s a semi-improvised show about a family),where young Karen asks her mum “why is that woman dressed like like that?” Her mother (played by Claire Skinner) says it’s because she’s modest and doesn’t want to attract attention to herself.
Little Karen then replies: “so why is she dressed in stupid clothes then?”

It’s the worst argument for wearing burka/hijab I’ve heard so far. It uselessly tries to make a blatant attack on women’s rights look like a push for the liberation of women… well, not so uselessly, since many people actually buy it, unfortunately.
