  1. Eric Martin says:

Brilliant! This is a great partner for the “Courtier’s reply”.

  2. Poor Richard says:

    HA HA HA … gurk.

I’m sure we have all seen many a religious pamphlet or book extensively documented with references to other publications by the same publishing house and even the same author.

Poor Richard says, “Self-testing is infalllible.” Fun too. Comforting. “Faith is never having to . . . .”

  3. Bodach says:

Eric beat me to the “Courtier’s Reply”. I love this strip; thanks, author!

  4. Shoaib says:

    Jesus, Mo and Kris(na)?

  5. Arms and legs and trunks everywhere – you are pure genius, sir!

  6. pastperfecttense says:

You keep me in laughing out loud every time. Thank you.

  7. Jerry w says:

In the Brit version, is it “arms and legs and boots everywhere”?

  8. tie says:

    amazing, as usual

  9. Maggs says:

Jerry w “In the Brit version, is it “arms and legs and boots everywhere”?”

Why would it be boots? Elephant gods don’t have boots…

  10. Uncle Roger says:

Hmmm… Hinduism sounds like a lot of fun! Well, I guess, only if you’re a god.

I guess any religion would be fun if you’re the god. Not so much so if you’re a peon.

  11. Maggs says:

(Johnny Canuck, when you come in please note I just found your reply in the last discussion and responded.)

  12. If she wanted to start a fight, she’d have asked each of them about why they rejected each others’ religion.

  13. Hobbes says:

Well, we are told we should be more godly, so if I become a Hindu . . . What a great recruiting tool!

  14. Warren says:

“Arms and legs and trunks everywhere”

    Great. Now I’m turned on.

  15. ms morbo says:

    Maggs :
“Jerry w “In the Brit version, is it “arms and legs and boots everywhere”?”

i dunno, i have seen have seen him dipicted in sandels, maybe he has a pair of boots kicking around the house somwhere…

  16. mishahu says:

Hey Jerry, I’ve always thought Ganesha would ride a bike. They don’t have trunks.

  17. JoJo says:

The boot thing is a car reference, I suspect. What in the US is the trunk is called the boot in the uk. Not sure what that has to do with elephant gods, though. Incidentally, the difference extends to the front of the car. Our cars have bonnets not hoods cos our cars don’t dress like no ho’s.. :-P

  18. Jerry w says:

    JoJo,
When I become supreme ruler of the world, because you speak the king’s english, you shall be appointed straight away as my interpreter.

However, I suggest that you find yourself a comfortable place to sit and wait, as it may take a while.

  19. Boxerm says:

    swimming

  20. Matt Oxley says:

lol @ superficial understanding–I was a Christian minister before I dropped the delusion

  21. remigius says:

I so much look forward to the ‘bing bong’ of another J & Mo in my inbox.

Fuck it. I’m gonna buy a mug!

  22. JoJo says:

jerry – start a religion. I hear it’s a fast track to world domination. As for being your interpreter, I am fluent in 6 million forms of communication and frequently converse with Soda Streams. Not nutty enough to talk with any gods, though.

  23. Jerome says:

Jesus and Mohammed were never in contact with Hindu scripture in their respective lifetimes. Hinduism was never “rejected” in Europe and the Middle East because it did not really spread to those areas.

  24. Shoaib says:

    JoJo,

Because Ganesh is an Indian God, his car will have neither a boot nor a trunk but a dicky.

Of course, Ganesh don’t need no car. He rides a rat (seriously).

  25. Achim says:

is there a english native speaker to explain me (german) the “arms and legs ..” thing?

  26. JohnnieCanuck says:

    Achim,
Ganesha is one of the most well known (and worshipped) Hindu gods. He is portrayed with the head of an elephant and multiple limbs. Combine that with the Western fascination with the Kama Sutra and erotic temple carvings and there you have it.

  27. Nick says:

I never understood why one needs a Ph. D in theology to criticize religion yet any child can be allowed to believe it.

  28. Pete says:

I think some of you guys should know about the atheist bus, that’s if you don’t already know!

    http://www.atheistbus.org.uk/

I’ll be sharing J & mo with the good people at Atheist Bus.

  29. John The Geologist says:

    Hey fellow atheists.

You can now generate your own Atheist Bus complete with your own anti-dog message.

  30. John The Geologist says:

    Achim

The Author has covered Ganesh in a previous cartoon:

  31. shakester says:

    oh, brilliant one, this.

  32. Uncle Roger says:

Speaking of cars and bonnets and such, I know of a Land Rover named Ganesh — as in Ganesh, Destroyer of Obstacles.

  33. Maggs says:

    Boots/trunks/swimming/chain of chemists shops….

  34. [...] one of My brand-holidays; more power to him.  Frankly, with some of the things I’ve seen Hindu deities get up to, it’s just crassly hypocritical to give people a hard time on Valentine’s Day.  [...]
