Is the author by any chance reading Bad Science in the Guardian or on their website (see link)? They just had very good articles about Wi-Fi and magic pendants. If you haven’t read it, I strongly suggest you do. Fun and alarming (that sometimes serious people believe such things) at the same time.

  2. JohnnieCanuck Says:

Obviously what these electromagnetically sensitive people need is a Faraday cage to shield them.

The classic aluminum foil hat is really not adequate because it doesn’t give complete coverage. A metallic burkha would be much better. If they aren’t concerned by frequencies higher than a GigaHertz, they could even have 1 cm holes for ventilation.

Better still might be a real cage with a lock on the door.

  3. JQH Says:

Funny you should say that, JohnnieCanuck; the organisation which goes around persuading people they’re electrosensitive will also (for loads of money) convert their homes into Faraday cages.

  4. Brian (BJ) Says:

A metallic burkha hm? Thank you for not provoking my invisible radiation?

  5. olive ginger Says:

Would the metallic burkha or Faraday cage also be phlogiston resistant?

  6. Jonathan Says:

    Phlogiston? Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time… a long time..

  7. Darwin's Dagger Says:

What? Jesus can’t cure his own headache?

  8. JohnnieCanuck Says:

You have to truly believe in the resurrection before you get the ability to heal by a touch. Mark 16:18.

  9. André Says:

    To Jonathan:

    Hahaha! Nice.

  10. JohnnieCanuck Says:

If it weren’t phlogiston resistant, there’s always antiphlogiston ointment. I have my mother’s old medicine chest. Here’s a picture I just took of one of the items. http://tinyurl.com/ytwk6q

The characterisation is interesting. And strange.

Jesus is a naive, pacifist New Age hippy. Mo is more practical, dominant and aggressive. And also wittier.

I think the author should reread the Gospels. In them Jesus is certainly a pacifist, but he is also totally authoritative, bitingly witty, and much smarter than everyone around him.

In contrast, the Qur’an appears to be a joke-free zone.
