Back in 1968, in my residency, I had a consult to see a child with multiple injuries. These included a couple broken bones, ruptured ear drum, multiple bruises and a few cigarette burns. She was in the play room when I got there and sat down to watch her for a few minutes. Shortly, she ran to me, climbed up into my lap and snuggled against me. Her father believed he was disciplining her. I have never forgotten her and never understood how anyone could raise a fist against such a beautiful and loving child. Take your discipline and shove it where the sun does not shine if you believe it includes any form of violence.

Pursuant to the article, I have to say that if physical discipline doesn’t cause “pain, injury, fear or humiliation” then you’re not doing it right.
It’s called discipline, so do wives get to do it to their husbands? Enlighten us, Mo!
