  1. JMo says:

Hopefully “A Christian” will be able to pontificate on the more subtle points being made in this truely tasteless cartoon. I on the other hand again applaude the “Author’s” truely awesome sense of humor. This reminds me of a joke I heard..
Three men walk into a bar a priest, a pedophile, and a homosexual, wait that was just the first guy……

  2. TallPaul says:

Author: have you got a URL for the original story? Ta

  3. Husain says:

Simply wonderful!!! I read about this foolish catholic priest on pharyngula.

  4. author says:

It’s right there under the bookmarking links, TallPaul.

  5. Daniel Grosvenor says:

While I always enjoy Jesus and Mo, this comic goes *beyond* the normal standard of excellence.

A perfect start to the holiday season. 😀

  6. Matt Oxley says:

    perfection on this one author…perfection

  7. Jerry w says:

    Mo has an “Irony Meter”?
Is it calibrated in the metric system?
Is the irony that (Walt) Disney was an Irish Catholic?
Disneyland, the light, the way, the e-ticket to heaven….

  8. John The Geologist says:

    Excellent toon Author. Brilliant.

If I was a lttle kid I would rather experience true happiness the Disney way than get fucked up the arse by a kiddy fiddling priest.

How come Mo’s irony meter didn’t go spoing on the countless occasions moslems stone to death a young woman who has been gang raped, in order to protect her honour.

  9. aaa says:

only needs the first frame really……

  10. Simon Bishop says:

Damn. I laughed so loud that my colleagues came running into my office to see what the fuss was all about. Brilliant (as usual).

  11. tie says:

great stuff, author must be so pleased that there is billions of religious people working hard everyday into providing the best quality cartoon plot material.

    so, cheers to them.

  12. daoloth says:

I think it was George Bernard Shaw who described celibacy as the wierdest perversion of them all. Does Catholicism attract pedophiles or create them? Or a bit of both perhaps.

  13. louis says:

pretty funny. though i think the abbot’s core message is the problem w/ materialism. it’s the same crap the religious xians harp on about this time of year. i agree the marketing to children is sick, but the solution isn’t lying to them about invisible friends. (btw, my daughters have more interesting invisible friends anyway)

  14. Warren says:

Jerry W, on Mo’s irony meter:

“Is it calibrated in the metric system?”

Yes, but it starts at 579.

  16. Disney Propagandist says:

Anybody know the initials of Pinocchio’s trusty handler?
Its almost like he was his conscience or something.

  17. JohnnieCanuck says:

The Abbott of Worth? I’ll restrain myself.

Colour me surprised that he’s touting his new book by making bold newsworthy statements. The last part of the Telegraph’s article has quite a number of ironic quotes from the book.

All you have to do is substitute Religion for the subject of the quote to improve the sentence greatly. For example:

“[Religious indoctrination does] no apparent external harm, but [is] a complete waste of interior time and space.”

“[Religion] tells us to stop facing the challenges of the present life and to live in some future fantasy. Such [fantasy] drives a large part of our [religious] culture.”

I’ll leave the rest for others.

Perhaps you should stop recycling old material?

  19. Saint-en says:

I want the 1 minute of my life back that I wasted on this website.

  20. […] Which is why this priest should take a minute to read this short cartoon. […]

  21. Uncle Roger says:

Wow. Too funny! I laughed my way through the whole strip!

Pot, meet Kettle. Kettle, meet Pot.

  22. JayBee says:

Author, I have to bow to your genie, and sense of humour, and excellent taste… what else? um…
oh yea, one of my favourite strips (the list is now really long)

  23. JoJo says:

Oh dear.. What sort of Mickey Mouse religion is Catholicism, anyway…?

  24. “What sort of Mickey Mouse religion is Catholicism, anyway?”

Oh I don’t know. You almost have to admire the sheer audacity with which they make it all up as they go along.

    TRiG.

  25. MrGronk says:

“What sort of Mickey Mouse religion is Catholicism, anyway…?”

I’ve always found it kind of goofy …

    /wince

  26. JoJo says:

They could all take themselves off to Pluto and I wouldn’t give a Donald…

[Author – New strip quick, before this gets out of hand!!]

  27. Jerry w says:

“Saint-en”, could you please tell us who convinced you that you have a life?

That being said, should you get your “minute” back, I suggest that you use it to go fuck yourself. A quickie as it were, and nothing personal, I’d say the same to someone with a sense of humor.

  28. Ryan says:

First… Comic wasn’t funny at all… stop with all the “priest pedo” bullshit… there are probably two pedo priests in the whole world compared to all the athiests pedos out there.

Second, gosh, why is it that everyone makes shit up about Catholics and says they make shit up? Or that Catholics are full of bull? I’ve been a Catholic my whole life and personally I think Atheism is bullshit. That’s right. Not believing in a God is more bullshit than believing in one. You heard me correctly. [email protected], come argue with me.

  29. pikeamus says:

You went too far Ryan. Clearly you wanted to just press some buttons in the hope that you’d get some email addresses but that rubbish is just too preposterous for anyone to bother.

  30. TB says:

Catholic Priests are doomed to diddle children Ryan. They live in perpetual hypocrisy as the Bible itself orders priests to live with a family.

  31. Ben says:

Would this priest prefer if Disney remade their movies so that evil won? Maybe they could have Catholic movie rentals where all movies end this way.

  32. Scott says:

Nice work…gotta laugh at the theist reactions…particularly the swearing theist Ryan. Why don’t you check out my free online documentary website – Online Documentaries 4 U – and see if some of the more scientific material there can switch on some brain cells. Oh, I have many regular visitors that would LOVE to argue with you…just leave a comment on any of my atheist documentaries and we’ll get started.

  33. JP says:

Hah, very nice. Though I accuse Disney of suggesting that our lives will turn out happily ever after! Took me a long time to figure out it doesn’t work that way 🙂

  34. […] it’s also curious – and a future blog on belief and hypocrisy – that so many of the isolationist and anti-government groups are right wing believers. So, […]

  35. […] Jesus and Mo Â» Archive Â» irony […]

  36. Brad says:

I cannot wait until the day when people stop all this bull about Catholic priests being pedos. Sure, there mat be a few, but that includes all groups of people. The overwhelming majority are good people.

  37. fenchurch says:

Ryan and his “tu quoque” ilk desperately needs our help to make better arguments against us atheists!

Dude, to make any assertion like that you need to provide actual data.
I know it might be over your head, this Trolling 201 stuff, but you should really try harder to incorporate supported facts into your amateurish swipes at a group you don’t understand.
(Trolling 201 syllabus includes “Know Thine Enemy”)

Plus, you need to account for the priests having a network of covering up their crimes involving transfers to other parishes systematically and with the knowledge of the ongoing crimes throughout all levels within the origanisation, worldwide.

Poor ol’ atheist pedo’s don’t have that kind of network, let along one funded by a trillionaire crime syndicate. Get yer facts straighter, and then you can troll, troll again.

Yes, their is the part that says that a bishop should be husband of one wife.

1 Timothy 3:2-12 KJV – A bishop then must be blameless, the – Bible …

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, (etcetera)
and I suppose remarry expeditiously should his wife die.

The trouble is the iron is not strong enough. Mo needs an unobtainiumy meter.
