i just realized that if your url was meant to be one of those swanky continues-the-word-after-the-dot types (yes, i know it's called a top level domain), this comic would be called "jesus and monet", which might make it slightly less funny. i'm not sure why i'm telling you this. please disregard this comment.

Jesus' use of "Hoist by one's own petard" is appropriate given his assumption that what they are doing is using satire and ridicule against blasphemers.

There's more than a few flaws in that assumption, which is the main joke. However what tickles me about the cartoon is that blowing yourself up with your own bomb has become such a popular pastime with the followers of his fellow protester.

The Center for Inquiry also had a slogan/verse competition running with the cartoon one, though both have now closed.

Merry Blasphemy Day to one and all! Maybe it should be a holiday.

Hold on! Religion IS blasphemy to we infidels isn't it. It is indeed a kind of psychological torture to us to have to daily experience the ridiculousness of religion, alive and well in the 21st century. Hm. Maybe this one is not so funny after all.

I like the reversal of the creationist view that Hitler loves Darwin to Darwin loves Hitler. The logic of person a loving person b when person b was born after person a died matches so well with your typical creationist.

On a related note, today I saw a thing that began "Glenn Beck blames godlessness for America's [...]"
And I enjoyed thinking maybe Glenn Beck was saying "how can [...] be so messed up? THERE IS NO GOD!!"
